About

DIET Ahmednagar is upgraded diet. It came into existence in 1997 by upgrading government D.Ed College Sangamner, Dist. Ahmednagar. DIET was running in the old building of D.Ed. College till the year 2011. In 2011 it is shifted into new building which has 5.27 acre ground area. DIET is located in Sangamner city 100 K.M.s away from Ahmednagar on Nashik- Pune highway DIET Vision, Mission and Role DIETs are nodal institutions for improving the quality of elementary education in the district. They are mandated to transact pre-service and in-service training programs for elementary school teachers.

Vision

The vision for DIETs that was articulated in the NPE 1986 was for a strong district institutions that would support pre-service and in-service work with teacher (clause 9.6) at the elementary education level. DIET can emerge as hub of educational value through a vibrant resource centre at District level for quality education.

Mission

To provide academic resource support at grass – root level for the success of various strategies and programmes being undertaken in the area of elementary education and school education.The DIETs need to be strengthened in all respects in terms of organizational structure, physical infrastructure, academic programmes, human resources, and financial support. Under the new scheme, the responsibility of DIETs grows multi-fold especially in the context of RTE Act, RMSA and NCF and not limited to teacher training but as an institution to manage quality aspects in schools, professional development of teachers, intra-district academic coordination in the district, academic assessment monitoring, research and action research, ICT interventions, innovative practices and academic planning in the district. There are 34 sanctioned DIETs in the state, out of which 33 are functioning. One sanctioned. DIET for MumbaiCity has not yet been started. Hence for Mumbai City New DIET is proposed under this scheme. Perspective plan for upgradation of DIETs would be as follows.

Role

• To continue to be nodal institution at the district level to transact pre-service and in-service training for elementary school teachers.
• To be responsible for in-service training of secondary school teachers under RMSA if there is no CTE for the district or the existing CTE is not able to fulfil the requirement due to inadequate capacity in relation to the total number of teachers to be trained.
• To organize and support teacher professional development and leadership development programs for Head Masters, senior teachers, and School Management Committees on a continued basis
• To serve as an Education Resource Centre for the district in conjunctions with BITEs, BRCs, CRCs.
• To address district specific material development, action research programs for special groups in the District.
• To develop district academic plans and monitoring the quality of schools and teaching.
• To design interventions for direct support to schools and work with special groups in the district.
